Merrickville District Community Health Centre 354 Read Street, Merrickville, ON K0G 1N0 Tel: (613) 269-3400 Fax: (613) 269-4958 Website: www.mdchc.on.ca Evening hours available Primary health care and community health programs are offered by an interdisciplinary team of professionals. The team includes: doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, a dietitian, a physiotherapist, respiratory therapists, chiropodists, a social worker and a community health worker. Community health programs emphasize prevention, health promotion and education. They include healthy eating, counselling, hearing screening, flu clinics, smoking cessation, diabetes clinics, foot-care, and chronic disease self management. Currently, there is a waiting list to access primary care services. However, anyone who lives within the catchment area can participate in programs offered by the community health centre. Our catchment area includes the communities of Merrickville-Wolford, as well as portions of North Grenville (former Oxford on Rideau), Elizabethtown-Kitley, Augusta, and Montague Townships, and the south west corner of the City of Ottawa (Burritt’s Rapids Village). Dr. Alison Greenop - Dentist - 269-3535 Merrickville & District Youth Centre: The Youth Group is supported by the Recreation Committee of the Village Council and the Merrickville & District Community Health Centre (contact 269-9332) with facilities at the Merrickville Community Centre provided by the Village of Merrickville-Wolford. The Centre is open 6:30-10 pm on Fridays. 1st Merrickville Scout Group The Merrickville Scout group offers Beaver, Cub, Scout, and Venturer programs for boys and girls aged 5 to 17. These are exciting outdoor orientated programs that run for most of the year. In addition to weekly meetings with a focus on skills, there are many weekend outdoor activities available including camping, hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, and white water canoeing/kayaking. Merrickville Guides The fun and friendship of Guiding in Merrickville begins with Sparks, for ages 5 and 6, Brownies are 7 and 8, Guides are 9 to 12, Pathfinders are 12 to 14, and Rangers are 15 to 18. Adult leaders, age 18 and up, support girls to learn and grow. We enjoy camping and outdoor activities, crafts and games. Guiding in Merrickville is proud to be involved in many community events. The bus leaves Merrickville at 6:20 am from the Drummond's Gas Station on St. Lawrence Street and arrives in Ottawa at 7:47 am. The bus leaves Ottawa at 5 pm from Laurier and Kent Streets and arrives at Drummond's on St. Lawrence Street at 6:20 pm. Bus tickets can be purchased from the driver at the bus (a yellow school bus) for $8.00 one way and $16.00 round trip. 10 rides - $67.00, 40 rides $230.00. Monthly passes coming soon.
