Welcome from our Mayor

On behalf all Residents, Staff and Members of Council, I wish to extend to you a very warm welcome to Merrickville-Wolford.

While the Village of Merrickville-Wolford is a relatively small rural municipality, our urban centre – Merrickville – is well known as a destination on the shores of the Rideau River, a Canadian Heritage River, and the Rideau Canal, a World Heritage Site. Yes, Merrickville is the Jewel of the Rideau.

The motto on our municipal Coat of Arms reads: Ad Aquas Florens – By the Water We Flourish. We have and continue to flourish in large part due to the people of our community.

I encourage you to discover the rich heritage and small town charm that Merrickville-Wolford has to offer. It has been said that the Village of Merrickville is one of the best maintained 19th century villages in all of Ontario.

Over the course of its history, Merrickville-Wolford has been the home to numerous mills and factories, most of which are now gone. Perhaps more known today for our tourism and commerce, the Municipality still takes pride in its rural roots, hospitality and friendly services. In fact, we invite everyone to come and enjoy our many festivals and fairs. While we offer a variety of activities, our community amenities are second to none: education, health care, recreational, churches and service clubs.

Are you looking for a location to start or relocate you business? Contact our very knowledgeable staff and find our why Merrickville-Wolford is the place for you.

Once you know our history, our place – you too will want to live and work in our special place: Merrickville-Wolford and help us continue to Flourish as the Jewel of the Rideau.

Mayor J. Douglas Struthers
