Introduction
The Village of Merrickville-Wolford is undergoing the process of a Development Charges (DC) Study, with the intention of considering the implementation of a Development Charges By-law for the municipality.
In 2025, Watson & Associates Economists Ltd. completed a preliminary assessment of Development Charges for the Village of Merrickville-Wolford.
Following the preliminary assessment, Council provided direction to proceed with a formal D.C. Study that would enable the Municipality to implement a D.C. by-law.
At the May 25th, 2026 Regular Council Meeting, Watson & Associates provided Council with an information session regarding Development Charges and the process.

What are Development Charges?
Development fees and charges are important funding sources that fund public services and infrastructure required to support new growth.
The purpose of D.Cs is to recover the capital costs associated with residential and non-residential growth within the municipality.
