It was an exciting day in Council Chambers on Tuesday afternoon, as the municipality and community partners moved one step closer to making the accessible public washroom in the Village a reality.
A few members of Council, along with members of the Chamber of Commerce, the Merrickville Lions Club, Mike Neelin, Terri Graham and Paula Christine from Main Street Restaurant, all met prior to the Committee of the Whole Meeting on October 14th for a cheque presentation ceremony.
The Merrickville Lions Club presented a cheque to the Municipality in the amount of $40,000, the Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Restaurant presented a cheque to the Municipality in the amount of $22,953.00. All the funds will be going towards the purchase of a modular accessible public washroom for the Village core, to be installed and maintained by the Municipality. This has been a project that has been identified as a need within the Village for many years, and the support for this initiative has allowed it to soon become a reality.
A very big thank you to the community partners and to everyone who has donated and supported this project. Great things happen when a community works together!
