Highlights from the February 24th Regular Council Meeting
- The By-law to Adopt a Speed Policy (15-2025) was approved and enacted.
- The Speed Study and the implementation of the associated recommendations were approved by Council.
- Council received an uncommitted reserve capacity update from the Village’s Engineer.
- The By-law to repeal the Designation By-law of 106 Colborne Street East was approved.
- The schedule for the 2025 Brush Amnesty Program was approved. The schedule will be posted on the Village website, social media, and at the Municipal Office for public information.
- Council approved the proposed flower baskets for the 2025 season for the Municipality.
- The Noise Exemption Request from the Merrickville Fire Department was approved. The request was submitted for the 2025 EOFA Fire Games that are being held in Merrickville this summer on June 13th & 14th.
- The sublicense agreement between the Municipality and the Merrickville Lions Club was approved. Authorization was given to the Mayor and CAO to sign the agreement.
- Council approved the re-endorsement and commitment for the OCWA Operational Plan. Authorization was given to the Mayor and CAO to sign the endorsement letter.
- Allocations for the 2025 Community Grants were made as recommended. The specific allocation amounts can be found within the report in the agenda package for this meeting.
- Council received three sets of minutes from the Merrickville Public Library Board.
- Departmental Activity Updates were provided from the Public Works Department, Finance/Administration Departments, and the Fire/By-law Enforcement Departments.
- Council provided support and endorsement for staff to apply for both an Active Transportation Fund grant opportunity as well as an Ontario Trillium Grant funding opportunity.
- Council endorsed and supported a resolution from the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus (EOWC) regarding the US trade tariffs negotiations.
