Council Update 2025-04

Highlights from the April 28th Regular Council Meeting

  • The Minutes from the March 24th, April 14th and April 17th Meetings were approved.
  • Council awarded the 2025 Brushing Tender to Tarstone Contracting Ltd. and Tackaberry. The 2025 Ditching Tender was awarded to Tarstone Canada Ltd.
  • The draft 2025 Grenville Detachment Board budget was endorsed by Council to be approved by the Board.
  • The Multi-Year Accessibility Plan for 2025-2029 was approved. This will be posted on the Village website and will be referenced by staff to improve accessibility in the Municipality.
  • The Noise By-law Exemption request for the 2025 Merrickville Fair was approved.
  • Council proclaimed November 22, 2025 as “Theatre Night in Merrickville” Day in celebration of the 50th anniversary for TNIM.
  • Minutes from the February 25th and March 25th Public Library Board Meetings were received.
  • Consent Application B-17-25 (McGrath) was endorsed & recommended for approval to the UCLG Consent Granting Authority.
  • Zoning By-law amendment applications (Watt and Brayman) were approved.
  • Council received an update report on the allocation of uncommitted reserve capacity action items for information.
  • The allocation of uncommitted reserve capacity for 40 connections to McLean’s Landing Phase II was approved.
  • The sewage capacity allocation request for 114 Lewis Street West was approved in principle, pending a zoning by-law amendment application to change the zoning of the property from R1 to R3.
  • Departmental Activity Update reports were received from the Public Works, Fire/Emergency Management & Administration/Finance departments.
  • The report to install an accessible washroom at 112 Wellington Street and to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Village, Main Street Restaurant and the Chamber of Commerce was deferred until staff can bring back further information for final consideration.

There is a Public Meeting scheduled on Monday, May 26th at 5:00 p.m. in Council Chambers for the 2nd Draft Zoning By-law.
