Highlights from the May 26th Regular Council Meeting
- The Minutes from the April 28th, May 12th and May 20th Meetings were approved.
- Council approved the Wellington Street Project and Funding Application request as presented.
- The Terms of Reference for a Service Master Plan for Infrastructure Deficiencies (Phase 1) was approved.
- The Sale and Disposition of Municipal Lands Policy and the Road Closure Policy were approved by By-laws 30-2025 and 31-2025. They will be posted on the Village’s website for public viewing.
- Council received correspondence from the Ontario Municipal Administrators’ Association (OMAA) to highlight the Long Service Recognition Award that CAO Darlene Plumley received.
- A delegation from Elisabeth Preston and Gina Jelmini regarding the Orchards of River Bend draft plan of Subdivision was received for information.
- Departmental Activity Updates were provided from the Public Works, Fire/By-law Enforcement, Clerk, and CAO/Finance Departments.
- Council provided direction to staff to resubmit the request to UCLG for a 4-way stop at the County Roads 15 & 16 intersection.
- The 2025 Tax Rates were amended to include the Aggregate Extraction class. This results in a 0.3% tax decrease overall.
- The fee schedule for the Public Works Department was amended to increase the 911 Property Number Signs line item from $75.00 to $125.00 to ensure that it is a cost-recovery process.
- Council accepted for information the 2024 O.P.P. Detachment Board Annual Report. It will be posted on the Detachment Board page on the Village website.
- Council appointed Paul Broadbent to the 2025 Canada Day Committee.
- Councillor Ireland gave notice of motion that will be brought to the June 9th Committee of the Whole meeting. The motion is in respect to addressing rural infrastructure.
A Public Meeting was held prior to the Regular Meeting for the purpose of providing another opportunity for members of the public to provide comment on the 2nd draft Zoning By-law.

The 113th 2025 EOFA Fire Convention Games is fast approaching!
Please come out on June 14th to cheer on the Merrickville Fire Department at the Fire Games & help show the community spirit that Merrickville has.
The Games will be taking place at the Merrickville Community Centre from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
