Highlights from the April 27th Regular Council Meeting
- The Minutes were approved from the Meetings on March 23rd and the Committee of the Whole on April 13th.
- By-law 26-2026 was enacted, being the Use of Corporate Resources Policy for the Municipal Election.
- By-law 27-2026 was enacted, being the Regulation of Election Signs for the municipality.
- Authorization was given to sign the agreement for the Merrickville Turbine Licence Agreement through By-law 28-2026.
- The 2026 Community Grants were allocated. All In-Kind requests were granted and cash funding was awarded for the following: $250 to Ecole Ste-Marguerite-Bourgeoys for the supplies/purchase of an accessible picnic table, $1000 to the dog park project, $2500 to Fibre by the Locks, and $250 to Merrickville Artists Guild (MAG).
- Council awarded the Ditching Tender to Fortress for the 2026 season, as recommended.
- Council deferred the Master Infrastructure Plan to JL Richards report to a Special Meeting on Monday, May 11th at 2:30 p.m. Council requested that staff arrange for OCWA to attend the Special Meeting to speak to the scope of work for the Master Infrastructure Plan.
- Council awarded the Wellington Street West tender to Tarstone Canada Ltd. Authorization was given to staff to issue any & all change orders with the understanding that staff will report to Council with updates throughout the progress of the project.
- Departmental Activity Updates were received from the Administration/Finance & Clerk Departments.
- Council received a request for a Sign By-law exemption for Merrickville Public School. Council denied the request as presented.
- The motion for Wellington Street West (Deputy Mayor Barr) to remove the provisional sidewalk segment on the south side of the road between St. John Street and St. Patrick Street was passed.
