Highlights from the May 25th Regular Council Meeting
- The Minutes were approved from the Meetings on April 27th and May 11th, and the Committee of the Whole on May 11th.
- The following tenders were awarded: Re-Gravel tender, Railway Street & Montague Road tender, Brushing tender, and the AODA Washroom to be installed on Wellington St. W.
- Council deferred the recommendation to permit no new servicing allocations until additional sanitary capacities are made available in the Village for 2 Servicing Allocation Requests (Collar Hill and Moderna Homes). Direction was given to staff to bring back a report to Council with further information on sanitary capacity, to engage again with the Ministry of Environment, and request OCWA to provide a risk asssesment
- Council received an information session presentation from Watson & Associates regarding the Development Charges Study. The DC Study and notice of public meeting will be posted on the Village website this week.
- Council authorized staff to utilize La Dee Chemicals for the calcium chloride application for 2026.
- A report was provided outlining the Public Works Road Projects for 2026.
- Council approved the community defibrillator project to be funded from the remaining Modernization Fund.
- Council directed staff to bring back a detailed cost estimate & operational plan within the next few months for review regarding parking & traffic during the yard sale weekend.
- Reports were provided regarding O. Reg 284/09 and the 2026 Finance Report from January to April.
- Department Activity Update reports were received from the Administration/Finance & Clerk Departments.
- A Communications Update report was provided.
- A Benchmarking Exercise for the Public Works and Fire Departments will be undertaken by MNP with the $60,000 being drawn from Working Funds.
- Council approved the installation of the privately-funded Victorian Clock at the corner of Main & St. Lawrence Streets
- Council supported the OPP Detachment Board resolution regarding traffic calming & speeding mitigation techniques.
- Deputy Mayor Barr and Councillor Gural were appointed to the Regional Recreational Steering Committee.
- Council did not proceed with any funding as requested by the Train Corridor Alliance.
