Highlights from the July 27th Regular Council Meeting
- The Minutes were approved from the Meetings on June 22nd and Committee of the Whole on July 13th.
- Council approved the 2 recommended application forms for unopened road allowances for both minor & major use.
- Direction was given to provide the Planning staff report to the United Counties for their consideration in the finalization of the Growth Management Strategy before the September 4th comment deadline. Verbal discussion included that Council Members would provide any additional comments to staff before the deadline to provide to UCLG.
- The Budget Principles Policy was approved through By-law 43-2026.
- The Accountability & Transparency Policy was approved through By-law 44-2026.
- Council enacted By-law 45-2026 to impose Development Charges within the municipality. The draft by-law was amended to impose a phased-in approach for charges, with 6-month increments for residential development & 1-year increments for non-residential.
- Department Activity Update reports were received from the Fire/By-law Enforcement, Clerk, & Administration/Finance Departments.
- The Finance Report from January to June was received for information.
- Council opted to choose the Ombudsman as the Closed Meeting Investigator by the end of 2026.
- Council approved resolutions of support for both the MFOA request for increased OCIF funding, and sustainable provincial fire services funding.
- Council received for information Integrity Commissioner Report IC-35972-0626.
- An Integrity Commissioner Expense Summary Document was provided for information for expenses from October 2025 through to July 2026.
- Council endorsed the OPP Detachment Board resolution & identified high priority areas for future potential funding opportunities.
- The Notice of Commencement & Public Consultation Plan for the Infrastructure Master Plan was provided for information.
