Greetings,
Earlier this week, Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) notified the public of a proposed schedule for removals of LaSalle Causeways temporary modular bridge, which will ensure seasonal navigation through the main channel into the Rideau Canal for taller vessels.
Parks Canada is notifying the public of the proposed schedule below:
- Mid-April to May: The channel will open once every two weeks.
- June to August: The frequency of openings will increase to once per week.
- September to mid-November: Openings will return to once every two weeks.
During these scheduled openings, the modular bridge will be temporarily removed in the morning and reinstalled later the same day to accommodate marine traffic during daylight hours.
The proposed schedule is subject to Transport Canada’s Navigation Protection Program approval under the Canadian Navigable Waters Act. During the approval process, Transport Canada will seek public feedback on the proposed schedule during a 30-day comment period. This schedule reflects feedback from stakeholders and aims to balance the need for marine access with minimizing disruptions for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians. Please note, that the schedule is still subject to change. Details will be published on the Government of Canada’s Common Project Search in the coming weeks.
We will keep you updated on any further developments and changes. For more information or if you have any questions, please refer to the Parks Canada website, PSPC's public notice and social media channels.
