Communication Update from the Village of Merrickville-Wolford - Curbside Waste Pickup Changes Effective January 1st, 2026

As we near the end of 2025 and head into the new year, Village staff have created an information package for residents. The main purpose is to provide information on the curbside waste pickup changes that are coming into effect on January 1, 2026.

 

Please review the update package, as there is a lot of information made available for curbside waste pickup that will help answer your questions. Bonus included: helpful information from various other departments!

 

Residents will be receiving this document in the form of a mailout as well by the end of December.

 

We thank all residents in advance for your patience as the Municipality transitions to a new model of waste management. We look forward to a new year, and staff will work with residents to ensure a smooth transition to the new system.

📆 First Pickup Day – January 7^th, 2026

🗑 Households limited to 2 bags of waste and 4 bags of waste for businesses.

🏷 Wolford tags will be replaced with orange tags commencing January 1^st, 2026.

💰 Tags will be $2.50/bag or $25 for a sheet of 10.

⏰ Waste should be placed at curb by 7:00 a.m. All bags should have tags on them to be picked up.

✅ Waste collection will be picked up at the beginning of a Private Road (at intersection of Private Road and Municipal or County Road). The Kodiak Residential Model of communal waste bins manufactured by “TuffBoxx” are recommended for private roads. Waste collection will be picked up at each individual property at the curb on all Municipal and County Roads.
