Please be advised that if you typically receive a water freeze notice, it is recommended to turn on a cold water tap with the stream of water being the size of a pencil and leave it running for the prevention of water line service freeze up this winter.
It is recommended that, if possible, to run a basement tap that will not inadvertently be turned off. You may be 100% responsible for thawing costs if it freezes due to not being turned on or it is mistakenly turned off after notice is received.
The Village of Merrickville-Wolford will notify you at the appropriate time when to shut off your tap in the spring.
We recommend your water should be turned on immediately to avoid any disruption with your water service due to water/sewer line freeze up.
