Chief Cole accepted Ice Bucket challenge to raise awareness of First Responder Mental Health

An Ice Bucket challenge has been circulating among local First Responder's to bring Awareness of Mental Health issues.
Chief Cole pledged a donation to Wounded Warriors and kept the challenge going by nominating Deputy Chief Nick Wilson.

Heritage Classic presents Merrickville Fire Department with $1000 donation to Fire Games

Organizers from Heritage Classic presented Chief Cole with a $1000 donation for the upcoming Fire Games.
The Fire Department purchased a Rehab tent to be used by fire fighters as shelter at calls.
The tent will be used at the Fire Games as well.
Thank you to the organizers for the generous donation.

Merrickville Fire Department awarded $5,000 grant by Enbridge Gas

On January 24, 2025, Merrickville Fire Department was awarded a $5,000 grant as part of an initiative by Enbridge Gas and the Safe Community Project Assist Program.  Participating in the presentation was Enbridge Gas representative Chris Brennan, Fire Chief Brad Cole, Mayor Cameron and fire fighters Jon McCurdy and Sean Leogreen. The funds were used to purchase essential educational and training materials.

Merrickville Fire Department Receives Equipment Grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada

Merrickville Fire Department was awarded a $25,413.00 grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada and purchased Hurst Combi Tool, which according to Chief Cole will 'fulfill a critical need within our department and allow our first responders to better help the people of Merrickville-Wolford during emergency situations."  On hand at the award ceremony were several members of the MFD, Mayor and Council, CAO Plumley and Staff, as well as Franchisee Sakar from Kanata/Hazeldean Firehouse Subs location.
