Council Update 2025-08 - October 27, 2025

Highlights from the October 27th Regular Council Meeting 

  • The Minutes were approved from the September 22nd Regular Council Meeting & October 14th Committee of the Whole Meeting.
  • The purchase & installation of decorative posts for the new crosswalks in the Village were authorized.
  • Council awarded the Curbside Pickup of Waste Throughout the Municipality to Emterra. Staff will work on further public communication for this waste collection transition.
  • The list of Engineering Firms for staff to use for consulting services was approved.
  • Council received Minutes from the Public Library Board & notes from the Community Development Coalition Meeting.
  • Zoning By-law amendments for files ZBA-06-2025 (Taylor, Corktown Road) & ZBA-07-2025 (Mulder, 114 Lewis Street West) were approved as presented.
  • The Procedure By-law (72-2024) was amended to replace the Notice of Motions section 8.13 of the By-law.
  • The Village’s Fees and Charges By-law 44-2022 was repealed and replaced by By-law Fees and Charges (50-2025)
  • Council appointed Ellen Fry from ADR Chambers as the Municipality’s new Integrity Commissioner (IC). (Appoint Integrity Commissioner (51-2025)
  • Council authorized the Municipality to enter into an agreement with Fotenn for municipal Planning Services and to allow for a transition period from Jp2g Consultants Inc. to close out their services.
  • Departmental Activity Update reports were provided for information.
  • Council approved the recommendation in the regarding a speeding complaint on HF McLean Road. Staff will request more OPP presence & continue to monitor for potential traffic calming measures.
  • Council received an end of season update report from the Blockhouse Museum board, which summarized the success of the 2025 season.
  • A letter was received for information regarding parking concerns on residential streets.
  • Council approved the motion regarding pedestrian & bicycle traffic within the Municipality for staff to conduct public consultation.
  • Council approved the request for an exemption of the fence by-law as presented.
  • Council directed staff to include Forcemain Testing in the Terms of Reference for the Master Plan.

Municipal Reminders

Winter is Coming!

Please be aware that winter parking restrictions will be coming back into effect starting on November 15th, 2025, & ending April 15th, 2026.

No vehicles shall be parked on streets between 1:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. to allow for winter operations.
