Highlights from the December 22nd Regular Council Meeting
- The Minutes were approved from the Meetings on November 20th, November 21st, November 24th, December 1st, December 8th, and December 15th.
- Council received a delegation from Ann Martin & Claudette Martin regarding the Blockhouse Museum Board’s plans for 2026.
- Minutes from the Public Library Board and the Community Coalition were received for information.
- The Open Air Burn By-law was approved and enacted. It can be accessed on the Village website for reference.
- Departmental Activity Updates were provided by the Clerk, Fire/By-law Enforcement, and the Administration/Finance Departments.
- Council received a report from the Fire Chief regarding the condition update and recommendation for the pumper tanker truck. Council approved the Option to purchase a new pumper tanker, while simultaneously moving into a lease agreement with Elizabethtown-Kitley to lease a pumper tanker until the delivery of the approved truck in February.
- A report regarding the update on communication equipment from the Fire Department was received for information.
- The Year in Review report for 2025 was presented and received for information as a highlight of the accomplishments over the last year.
- Council approved the fee waiver refund request submitted by Ecole Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys for the use of the Community Centre for their Thanksgiving luncheon.
- Staff were directed to proceed with exploring the possibilities of signage updates throughout the Village and to bring back any further information to a future Council meeting.
Municipal Reminders
Curbside waste pickup throughout the entire municipality will be effective as of January 1st, 2026.
The 1st pickup date will be January 7th, 2026.
